This academic program offers a comprehensive study of the Fiqh of Sawm (Fasting) according to the Hanafi school of thought. The curriculum investigates the legal foundations of fasting, integrating original Arabic texts from the Qur'an and Hadith with detailed English translations and authentic citations. Students will explore traditional Hanafi methodology (Usul), learning how specific evidences were prioritised over other schools, alongside an analysis of varying internal fatwas from the early authorities. The course further examines the worldly and otherworldly benefits of fasting, supported by classical literature and poetry in Urdu and Farsi, providing a holistic understanding of this pillar of Islam.
