Hanafi Uṣoolul Qur’an

This advanced Islamic studies program examines the Hanafi principles used to understand, interpret, and derive rulings from the Qur’an. It introduces Qur’anic language, commands and prohibitions, general and specific wording, ambiguity and clarification, abrogation, and the relationship between Qur’an, Sunnah, consensus, and analogy. Lessons use reliable early Hanafi works, including al-Jaṣṣāṣ’s al-Fuṣūl fī al-Uṣūl and Aḥkām al-Qur’ān, al-Dabūsī’s Taqwīm al-Adillah, al-Sarakhsī’s Uṣūl al-Sarakhsī, and al-Bazdawī’s Uṣūl. Arabic definitions are quoted with source references, and Qur’anic verses and hadith are presented with tashkīl, translation, and multiple applied examples.
